Summer 2009 Handicapping Contest The Steeplestakes.com Summer 2009 Handicapping Contest starts June 7th and will conclude September 3rd. The contest will include the steeplechase races run at Philadelphia Park on June 7, Colonial Downs on June 14 & 28 and July 12, Penn National on June 20, and Saratoga (every Thursday begining July 30 and ending September 3). The rules of the contest are set forth below. Entry in the contest is free. You must enter at least five of the races in the contest to be eligible to win a prize. Good Luck!

Contest Prizes:

First Place: $150

Second Place: $75

Third Place: $50

Fourth Place: $25

Fifth through Tenth Place: Choice of a Steeplestakes.com Hat or a Steeplestakes.com T-Shirt

Contest Scoring: Entry in the contest is free. Each contestant will receive a mythical bankroll of $20 per race to make mock win, place and show wagers on any horse in a contest race. Points will be awarded or deducted from each contestant's score based on the amount of each winning or losing mock wager as determined by the win, place and show prices posted by the host track. For example, if you make a $20 mock win wager on a horse that wins and pays $8.60, you will have earned 66.00 points; if you make a $5 mock win wager on a horse that wins and pays $8.60, you will have earned 16.50 points; if you make a $20 mock wager to win on a horse that runs second, you will have lost 20.00 points. You must enter at least four of the races in the contest to be eligible to win a prize. The winners will be the ten people who accumulate the most points during the course of the contest. The contest will include the steeplechase races run at Philadelphia Park on June 7, Colonial Downs on June 14 & 28 and July 12, Penn National on June 20, and Saratoga (every Thursday begining July 30 and ending September 3). The contest will not include the steeplechase races run at the Saratoga Jump Start on July 26th. You may enter the contest at any time but you will not be eligible to win a prize unless you play at least five of the contest races.

Final Odds: All of the races in the contest will be held at race tracks that accept pari-mutuel wagering, and the final odds for all win, place and show prices will be determined by the host track.

Please note that no currency will ever change hands during the course of this contest, and that only the top ten winners will be entitled to receive the prizes set forth above at the conclusion of this contest. All mock wagers made during the course of this contest are mythical and all mock wagers accepted in this contest are for contest participation only; they do not constitute a valid claim to any actual wagering pools whatsoever. Entry in the contest is free. You must enter at least seven of the races in the contest to be eligible to win prizes. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. Only one entry per household per race. All entries must be received at least one hour prior to post time on the day of the applicable race. You can enter the contest before, on or after June 7, 2009.

All horses that are coupled for pari-mutuel wagering purposes shall run as a coupled entry for purposes of this contest (for example, if you select one half of a coupled entry to win and the other half of the entry wins, you have correctly picked the winner of the race for purposes of this contest. Similarly, if you select one half of a coupled entry to win and the horse you selected scratches, your contest selection becomes the other half of the entry.) Steeplestakes.com bears no responsibilities for any errors, whether human or machine, made during the course of this contest. In the event errors are detected, Steeplestakes.com will do whatever is possible to correct those errors. In case of disputes, the final determinations of Steeplestakes.com shall be conclusive.
