Post-Race Analysis:

New Kent, Virginia - July 17, 2005: Paradise's Boss made his first foray into open stakes company a successful one with a wire-to-wire victory in the $50,000 Grade III Zeke Ferguson Memorial at Colonial Downs. The winning time for the 2 1/4 mile race was 4:30.87, more than 20 seconds slower than it took maiden winner Studio Time to cover the same distance two races earlier.

Paradise's Boss, shown here during the running if the Temple Gwathmey earlier this year, won the Grade III Zeke Ferguson by 5 1/4 lengths.

Mrs. Henry F. Stern's Paradise's Boss was the 2004 novice champion and came into the race off a winning effort in the $75,000 Grade II Meadow Book at Belmont Park in June. The 5-year-old son of Thats Our Buck went right to the front and set a dawdling pace before kicking clear late to out-run heavy favorite McDynamo by 5 1/4 lengths. It was another 2 ½ lengths back to Understood in third.

Bred in Florida by Juan Escobar, Paradise’s Boss raced on the flat with trainer Terri Pompay until purchased by Fisher late in 2003. Over jumps, the former $20,000 claimer has won six his 11 career starts and earned over $200,000. The 5-year-old son of That's Our Buck (by Buckaroo) won four races last year en route to earning the 2004 novice championship. Based on those credentials, Paradise’s Boss was the heavy Triple Crown favorite at the start of the season, but the gelding faltered in the first two legs of the series before winning the final leg. He is trained by Jack Fisher and was ridden by Xavier Aizpuru.

Xavier Aizpuru has won two graded stakes races in a row on Paradise's Boss.

Edited from NSA press release.
