Mixed Up defeating Charlie Whiskey at
the finish of the Grade II National Hunt Cup.
|
Owned by William L. Pape and trained by Jonathan Sheppard,
Mixed Up stalked Charlie Whiskey throughout, reached even terms
with the leader leaving the backstretch and kicked clear to win
by two lengths. Charlie Whiskey stayed for second with Move West
another three lengths back in third.
Danielle Hodsdon rode the winner, a 6-year-old son of Carnivalay,
and picked up her first career stakes win. Mixed Up came into the
race undefeated in two starts this year- the most recent coming
on the flat at Atlantic City May 13th after winning an allowance
race over hurdles at Middleburg April 23rd.

at the 7th fence.

Fox Ridge Farm's Charlie Whiskey, making his first start in a stakes
race, almost stole the race on the front end. The 5-year-old son
of Cryptoclearance is trained by Tom Voss and was ridden by Cyril
Murphy.
Armata Stable’s Toughkenamon, who won the first leg of the series
in Middleburg, Virginia on April 23rd, finished seventh in the field
of 12. The 6-year-old son of Maria's Mon (by Wavering Monarch) came
into the race undefeated in two career starts over hurdles. He is
trained by Kathy Neilson McKenna and was ridden by Robert Massey.

Jockey Tom Foley changed tactics with Paradise's Boss and reserved
the 2004 novice champion off the pace, but the strategy backfired
as he finished last. The 5-year-old son of Thats Our Buck (by Buckaroo)
is owned by Mrs. Henry F. Stern and is trained by last year's leading
steeplechase trainer, Jack Fisher.
Other Radnor winners were Miles Ahead (Chris Read) in the Radnor
Hunt Cup timber stakes, Molino Rosso (Matt McCarron) in the maiden
hurdle, Meet At Eleven (Rob Massey) in the allowance hurdle, Popular
Gigalo (Xavier Aizpuru) in the claiming hurdle and Rouge Sensation
(Dave Bentley) in the maiden claiming hurdle.

12th.
