Race Analysis:
Muscle Car beat Darn Tipalarm by a length and a half in the $70,000
AFLAC U.S. Championship Novice Stakes held at Calloway Gardens on
November 6th. Darn Tipalarm set the pace in the two and three-eighths
miles race but gave way in the stretch, just holding off All Gong
(GB) by a nose. Muscle Car has now won four races from eight starts
this year and has earned $112,950. His win gave trainer Jonathan
Sheppard his third victory of the afternoon.
The novice championship series is open to horses who who started
the year as maidens. Muscle Car is now eligible to win a $1,000,000
bonus as part of theSport of Kings Challenge. In order to cash in
on the $1 million payday, Muscle Car must travel to England and
win novice stake races at both Chepstow on November 24th and at
Cheltenham on December 11th. If he wins just one of those races
he will earn a $50,000 bonus.
